By offering kidney care that provides a better quality of life for our patients, we also assume a responsibility towards society and the environment.
Our commitment to developing countries and new markets
In many developing countries, people suffering from CKD die due to a lack of access to effective treatments. We seek to bring high-quality kidney care to patients living in countries where these treatment options are not currently available. Our rigorous process for entering new markets ensures that we only operate in places where local practices allow us to maintain our standards. We collaborate with local health authorities to define national renal strategies, which enables new paradigms of care to emerge.
When we begin operations in a new country, or acquire a new clinic, we know that adopting the most demanding standards of care is essential to optimizing clinical outcomes. In this sense, we carry out pre-integration audits, in order to ensure that we meet our own standards, with the results being evaluated after the first 100 days and re-evaluated after 1 year. Each time, we have seen improvements in standards of care and patient experience in our clinics.
We are committed to innovation in renal care and believe that the development of new technologies contributes significantly to improving clinical results and transforming our sector. We revolutionized our clinics through automated data capture systems and minimizing human errors in reporting tasks, which allowed us to achieve greater standardization, ensure patient safety and reduce Diaverum's environmental impact. All of this increases our confidence in our “digital program”. Indeed, we believe this program will change access to care and eventually allow our specialists to provide basic dialysis knowledge in remote locations. We have a vision of a world in which an experienced nephrologist in Sweden or Portugal can support nurses in Central Africa.
Water and energy savings
The existence of clean water is essential for safe dialysis. In this sense, we continue to look for new ways to minimize our impact, without compromising our standards or putting our patients at risk. We actively collaborate with dialysis unit manufacturers to reduce water and energy consumption. We also seek to standardize the construction of our clinics, in order to minimize water consumption.
We continually reevaluate our sustainability objectives. But there is something that always stands out: care. Caring for our patients, society and the environment is at the heart of everything we do.
